Neverland(dreamtone)

2006 Mart’ın da çıkacak olan ‘Sojorun’, ülkemizin yetenekli gruplarından Dreamtone’un ilk albümü olmasının yanı sıra, Tavanarasi Production’ın da piyasaya süreceği ilk albüm olma özelliğini taşıyor.

Pandemonium (2001) ve Unforeseen Reflections (2003) çalışmalarından tanıdığımız Dreamtone’un 17 parçasından oluşan Sojourn albümü, dinleyicisini, usta melodileri ve konsepti ile farklı diyarlara sürüklüyor…

Mastering aşamasının, Shadow Gallery, James Labrie, Jordan Rudess gibi sanatçılar ile çalışmış olan Jim Brick (Absolute Audio) tarafından yapıldığı albümde, konuk sanatçı olarak ta, Shadow Gallery’den Gary Wehrkamp, Ominous Grief’ten Ozan Alparslan ve Joker’den Yasemin Genç yer alıyor…

Albümün fotoğrafları, kapak ve kitapçık tasarımları Efe Alpay imzasını taşırken, kapak ve kitapçık içi illüstrasyonlar kendine has tarzıyla tanınan Kerem Beyit tarafından hazırlandı.

“Nice cover, but what a lousy logo” was my first reaction when seeing the cover. But since the name “Dreamtone” sounded interesting, I ignored the logo from that point on and went on to the thing that really matters … the music.

Dreamtone is a young Turkish prog/power band. This is the band’s first full-length studio album. Dreamtone is still unsigned, but that can change in the future. The seventeen tracks-counting disc is a bit misleading. Since there are also Rhapsody-like narrator tracks included. Even so there’s still more than enough music to listen to.

A combination of progressive and power metal is something we’re familiar with after al those bands who tried it. Some failed, some succeeded. Dreamtone is somewhere in between in my opinion. This is not one of the “double-base-drum-abusing” power bands. The songs sound interesting and fresh. And even though I don’t really the vocals, the overall sound is still quite satisfying. With a lot of instruments and orchestral elements included the album gains atmosphere. The band focuses more on the feeling and melodies instead of the energy and ramming songs, which results in an atmospherically well sounding prog/power album.

It’s hard to tell what lies ahead of these young musicians. This album is a good start in ay case. It may not be a classic everyone will like, but it certainly has its charms. And if the band can’t get a deal with this release I don’t know what is right and wrong anymore. Sign this band and give them the opportunity to grow further. They deserve it by releasing this diverse album. Give them a chance and we’ll see.

Dreamtone başlığı neden hala amatör gruplar da duruyor ki? Albüm çıkmadı belki ama... Alternatif grup olsa anına prof. lara taşınırdı...
 
ilk kez bi metal dergisinin demo albümnde tanıdım dreamtone u enstrumantal sarkısını cok begenmistim daha sonra özge ile tanısmak nasip oldu aynı okuldaymısız :)
 
Mart 2006'da Sojourn Tavanarası Medya etiketiyle yasal olarak raflardaki yerini alacaktır. İlgi gösteren herkese teşekkür ederiz.

Dreamtone - 2005 - "Sojourn" 5/6

Dreamtone is a quintet (vocals, guitars, keys, bass, drums), whose history dates from 2001. "Sojourn" is their first full-length CD. Stylistically their music can be defined as symphonic prog-power metal. The program is conceptual, the impression being enforced by spoken parts with symphonic-like arrangements in the background. Some tracks follow one another with no pauses. Concerning the material's musical quality on the whole, I have to notice its versatility and compositional diversity. The classical influences are evident not only in the instrumental parts, but also in the vocal ones. Above all I mean dialogues between different personages, taking place in most songs. The arrangements are tasteful and elegant; guitar and keyboard solos are highly technical throughout. Despite all the obvious virtues however, there is one essential shortcoming in this program, which is the absence of originality. There are many groups working in the same direction. The Turkish musicians are young enough, so I hope their best creations are yet to come.
